I got the job here at V-Twins when we first moved to Coffs Harbour, when my friend Steve – who had worked for Peter Stevens in Melbourne as a Dealer Rep – volunteered my help for the Open Day in 2005. I had done ride days before in Victoria, and on the back of that day, Ash offered me some casual work to help Karissa out as her workload had gotten quite busy. I went to full time when Karissa took 7 months off to travel overseas in Jan 2009, and have been permanent ever since.
My memories at V-Twins are all good, working with people with similar interests, and with such a great group of workmates couldn’t be more rewarding. I’ve met some terrific people who’ve become firm friends outside of the Dealership. We’ve had some great staff come and go in the time I’ve been here, Jay, Tom, Gav and Louie (at KTM) to name just a few. I recall being approached by a guy at the Phillip Island GP one year asking about the V-Twins T-shirt that I had on, saying that he’d heard what a great shop it was and that it was on his bucket list to visit one day!
Thirty years ago I was living in Western Victoria with my then husband Bruce and our two children Charlie and Brock. Bruce rode a Harley and at that time I had a Triumph Trident T160. I loved that bike but it didn’t love me and when I broke my right leg kick starting it, Bruce had sold it before I got out of hospital, and it was replaced with my first Harley shortly after. I’ve had four more Harleys since, two Heritages and two Delux, but as of last year it’s the first time I haven’t had a bike since 1971. I’m OK with that, it has been great but it’s time for the next chapter of my life, as I now have a couple of grandies to spoil. I can’t imagine working anywhere else.
